The Nuts and Bolts of Music is a new approach to music literacy
and is especially suitable for adult learners. Available most evenings,
depending on demand, participants learn to read and write music confidently,
understand what they hear, and apply what they learn. Lessons include music
theory and appreciation, ear training, and keyboard laboratory activities
without the homework and without exams! Every participant receives a Certificate
of Participation. See our brochure for further details. |

| All Comers Ensemble (ACE) | Murray Conservatorium Chamber Orchestra | |
| Thursdays, 6.15pm – 7.15pm | Thursdays, 7.45pm – 9.45pm | |
In late 2003, Murray Conservatorium established
an exciting community orchestral program. Bringing together musicians from
Albury-Wodonga as well as further afield, the Chamber Orchestra gave its
first performance in December of that year. So successful was this initial
program, that it has now been expanded to include not only those with quite
strong orchestral experience but also those with very little or even no
experience. |
||
Orchestras Alive! consists
of the Murray Conservatorium Chamber Orchestra, for experienced orchestral
musicians, and the ‘All
Comers Ensemble’ or ACE, for short. The Chamber Orchestra rehearses
for two hours each week under the baton of Willem van der Vis, each period
of activity, or project, culminating in a public performance. ‘ACE’ is
a one hour weekly ensemble activity open to all players of any orchestral
instrument, regardless of standard or experience. |
||
Orchestras Alive! receives
funding from the Ruth Whyte Memorial Bequest and NSW Department of Education
and Training and the City of Wodonga. |

Outreach Program |
||
Murray Conservatorium assists many schools
in the Albury-Wodonga region by placing specialist music teachers in
those schools. In recent years, these partnerships have been extended
to service schools in outlying areas. Schools currently engaged in this
program include Brocklesby, Burrumbuttock, Culcairn,
Henty, Lowesdale,
Mullengandra, Mulwala, Rand, Walbundrie and Walla Walla public schools
as well as St Patrick’s
in Holbrook, St John's in Jindera, and Billabong High School in Culcairn.
This program, subsidised by the NSW Department of Education and Training,
provides access to individual instrumental tuition, choral training
and
class music. Interested principals should contact the Director for
further information on this program. |
